The Social Struggles of Working From Home

After years of balancing WFH life with school runs and filming, isolation is setting in. I’m craving more human connection and searching for a p/t workspace with privacy, interaction, and inspiration.

The WFH Dilemma: Where Did My Social Life Go?

I've been dealing with the challenges of working from home for way too long. The main reason for this is my increased and continuing involvement in picking up and dropping off the kids from school since they’re all of school age now. My days are busy with filming, editing, and writing scripts, all done from home.

But, I've realized how much I miss hanging out with people. Besides bumping into other preoccupied parents-in-passing, kids, and my dear family, my social life is non-existent, except when I go on trips.

The Coffee Shop Conundrum: Temporary Solutions Aren't Cutting It

I've tried to deal with this by working in a café sometimes. But, it's like it's here today, gone tomorrow. It’s not a real structure, though it can be fun. So, I'm considering setting aside a regular half-day or day each week to work from somewhere else. Finding a good spot is tricky. Public services in Wellington got slashed, which affected the private sector too, so it's not as lively as before.

I'm all about mixing things up at work by having more human interaction. I need a place to hang out and work, where I can have some privacy for recording. Otherwise, I'm cool with recording outside and editing at my desk.

Your Input Needed: Recommendations for Wellington Workspaces

If you have any suggestions and know your way around Wellington, give me a heads up. Tomorrow, I'm gonna swing by Servcorp's office. Some reviews aren't great, but their offering looks promising. Their remote locations in Auckland and overseas are especially appealing, which would be fantastic because it's hard to find fast and reliable internet abroad for uploading YouTube videos.

Any thoughts on Servcorp would be much appreciated too.
