Waitarere break is over

Waitarere break is over
Waitarere beach. Also, a road. Not that you can tell here...

And now it's time to begin the work.

My weird thunderstorm asthma kicked off the year, but we’re still doing our five-day family coast trip. We’re in Waitarere, staying at a friend’s bach by the coast. The breeze is cool, and it’s been a busy time with the kids: talking and playing some cricket, playgrounds and jumping the waves. This time, no bluebottles (small jellyfish), which stopped us from getting in the water at all last time we were here. We’ve also enjoyed walks on the beach. In fact, I’m on a beach walk now, recording this as an audio note to shape into a blog post later.

I’ll share a few pictures for you to see as well.

The start of the year hasn’t been as productive as I’d hoped, because I had big plans to start strongly. It’s 2025, and this break is great timing, since we’re super busy this year as a family. We’ve got a lot of changes going on, and we’re optimistic. The girls are growing so much each month; it’s incredible to see.

I’ve got family in London I need to see, so I’m planning a couple of trips back—one with the girls, one on my own. I’ve got a trip to Japan coming up in late February for ten days where I’ll be creating and catching up with friends. I’m a big fan of Japan; I always have a great time there.

There’s also a trip to Dallas in October to VidSummit. It’s pricey, and the NZ dollar’s tanked lately—making things rough. It’s a good investment in me, so I’m doing it. I'm also flying with United, as their standard ticket was 20% cheaper than Air New Zealan's Sale price ticket, with one fewer flight, and better connection and flight times.

My head is whirling with all the things. And I;m actually sat at my desk back at home now - so, I’d better get on with it.

How has your year started?
